![]() 2 Reminders for Trini Muslims (Dress for Salaah) ![]() Some advices to my fellow Muslim brothers in Trinidad and Tobago. Please share, to help revive these sunnahs. BarakAllahu feekum. The Prophet ![]() Allaah azzawajal mentions in the Quran: “O Children of Adam! Take your adornment (by wearing your clean clothes) while praying.” [Al-A'raaf 7:31] Aishah (radhiAllahu`anha) narrated, “the Prophet (salAllahu`alayhi wa sallam) performed Salah in a khamisah (a square garment) with marks on it. During the Salaah he looked at its marks. So when he finished the Salah, he said, “Take this khamisah of mine to Abu Jahm and get me his Anbijaniyah (a woolen garment without marks) as it (the khamisah) has diverted my attention from the Salaah”. [al-Bukhari; Prayer, Chapter: If a person performed Salah in a dress with marks Hadith 373] Anas (radhiAllahu`anhu) narrated that Aishah (radhiAllahu`anha) had a Qiram (a thin marked woolen curtain) with which she had screened one side of her home. The Prophet (SalAllahu`alayhi wa sallam) said: “Take away this Qiram of yours, as its pictures are still displayed in front of me during my salaah (ie, they divert my attention from the Salaah)” [al-Bukhari; As-Salaah, Hadith 5959] Compiled from Prayer According to the Sunnah by Prof. Muhammad Zulfiqar (Darussalam) (2) Pictures and drawings on children's clothing (ruling) Question: What is the ruling regarding pictures and drawings on children's clothing, since these (children's) clothes are not free from pictures? Response: It is not permissible to buy clothing upon which pictures and drawings of that which has a soul from amongst the humans, animals or birds. This is because making pictures and using them is haraam, for the many authentic ahaadeeth which forbid this and threaten severe punishment over it. The Prophet (sal-Allaahu `alayhe wa sallam) cursed those who made pictures [Saheeh al-Bukhaaree, volume 7 hadeeth 67] and informed that they will be the most severely punished on the Day of Jugdement [Saheeh al-Bukhaaree, volume 7 hadeeth 64 and 65]. So it is not permissible to wear clothing upon which is a picture and nor is it permissible to dress a young child with it. That which is obligatory is to purchase clothing without pictures and these are many. And all Praise is for Allaah.
