Salaah 7 Reminders for Trini Muslims: Actions in Salaah (part 2)

7 Reminders for Trini Muslims:
Actions in Salaah (part 2)

Some advices to my fellow Muslim brothers in Trinidad and Tobago. Please share, to help revive these sunnahs. BarakAllahu feekum. The Prophet (salallahu alayhi wa sallam) said, what means, "Whoever invites to goodness will have a reward like all those who follow him in that, without their rewards decreasing in the least..." (Muslim)

(1) Recitation of the Quran is forbidden in Ruku and Sujud

Ibn Abbas (radhiAllahu anhu) narrated: Allaah’s Messenger salallahu alayhi wa sallam said:
“I have been forbidden to recite the Quran while bowing or prostrating; so while in the bowing (position) glorify the Rabb (Lord), and while in the prostrating position, be earnest in supplication, for it is fitting that your supplications may be answered.”
(Sahih Muslim, as-Salaat, Chapter: Prohibition of reciting Quran in bowing and prostrations, Hadith 479)

(2) Wearing Shoes in the Salaah

“When one of you prays, he should wear his shoes or take them off and put them between his feet, and not harm others with them.” (Abu Daawood and Bazzaar; al-Haakim declared it saheeh and adh-Dhahabee agreed; See The Prophet’s Prayer Described)

(3) Lengthening the standing after the Ruku (Qauma)

Thabit (radhiAllahu anhu) narrated: “Anas (radhiAllahu anhu) used to demonstrate t us the Salaah of the Prophet salallahu alayhi wa sallam and while demonstrating, he used to raise his head from bowing and stand so long that we would say that he had forgotten (the prostration).” Sahih al-Bukhari, Adhan, Chapter: To stand straight with calmness on raising the head from bowing, Hadith 800.

(4) The obligation to seek refuge from 4 things before supplicating after the tashahud

Abu Huraira (radhiAllahu anhu) reported: The Messenger of Allaah (sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam) said: “When any one of you completes the [last] tashahhud. he should seek refuge with Allaah from four (trials): from the torment of Hell, from the torment of grave, from the trial of life and death, and from the mischief of Masih ad-dajjal (the false messiah).” (Sahih Muslim, The Book of Salaah)

(5) Following the Imaam (and not preceeding him)

Al Baraa, radhiAllahu anhu, narrated: “They (the Companions) used to pray with the Messenger of Allaah, salAllahu alayhi wa sallam, and they bowed when he bowed, and when he raised his head after bowing, he called ‘Sami-Allahu liman hamidah’, and we kept standing until we saw him place his face on the ground, and then we followed him.” Sahih Muslim, The Book of Salaah, Chapter: Following the Imaam, and acting after him, Hadith 317 (Abridged Sahih Muslim)

Abu Hurairah, radhiAllahu anhu, narrated that the Messenger of Allaah, salAllahu alayhi wa sallam said: “Does not the man who lifts his head before the Imaam fear that Allah may turn his shape like that of a donkey?” Sahih Muslim, The Book of Salaah, Chapter: It is forbidden to lift head ahead of the Imaam, Hadith 291 (Abridged Sahih Muslim)

(6) Prohibition of looking up in Salaah

Abu Hurairah, radhiAllahu anhu, narrated that the Messenger of Allaah, salAllahu alayhi wa sallam said: “People should avoid lifting their eyes towards the sky while supplicating in Salaah, lest their eyesight be snatched away.” Sahih Muslim, The Book of Salaah, Chapter: Prohibition of looking up in Salaah, Hadith 336 (Abridged Sahih Muslim)

(7) Suppressing yawning in Salaah

Abu Sa’id al-Khudri, radhiAllahu anhu, narrated that the Messenger of Allaah, salAllahu alayhi wa sallam said: “When one of you yawns in Salaah, let him suppress as much as he can. Verily, the devil enters inside.” In another narration: “one should keep his hand on the mouth, because the devil enters inside.” Sahih Muslim, The Book of Salaah, Chapter: Suppressing yawning in Salaah, Hadith 345 (Abridged Sahih Muslim)
