074 - Soorah al-Muddaththir - (The One Enveloped) - [Makkee] |
|
In the Name of Allâh, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
[074:001] O you (Muhammad [sal-Allâhu 'alayhi wa sallam]) enveloped in garments!
[074:002] Arise and warn!
[074:003] And magnify your Lord (Allâh)!
[074:004] And purify your garments!
[074:005] And keep away from Ar-Rujz (the idols)!
[074:006] And give not a thing in order to have more (or consider not your deeds of obedience to Allâh as a favour to Him).
[074:007] And be patient for the sake of your Lord (i.e. perform your duty to Allâh)!
[074:008] Then, when the Trumpet is sounded (i.e. the second blowing of the horn).
[074:009] Truly, that Day will be a Hard Day –
[074:010] Far from easy for the disbelievers.
[074:011] Leave Me Alone (to deal) with whom I created lonely (without any wealth or children, etc., i.e., Al-Walîd bin Al-Mughîrah Al-Makhzûmî).
[074:012] And then granted him resources in abundance.
[074:013] And children to be by his side.
[074:014] And made life smooth and comfortable for him.
[074:015] After all that he desires that I should give more;
[074:016] Nay! Verily, he has been opposing Our Ayât (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.).
[074:017] I shall oblige him to (climb a slippery mountain in the Hell-fire called As-Sa'ûd, or) face a severe torment! |
