033 - Soorah al-Ahzaab - (The Confederates) - [Madanee]
In the Name of All‚h, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
[033:001] O Prophet (Muhammad [sal-All‚hu 'alayhi wa sallam])! Keep your duty to All‚h, and obey not the disbelievers and the hypocrites (i.e., do not follow their advice). Verily, All‚h is Ever All-Knower, All-Wise.
[033:002] And follow that which is revealed to you from your Lord. Verily, All‚h is Well-Acquainted with what you do.
[033:003] And put your trust in All‚h, and Sufficient is All‚h as a WakÓl (Trustee or Disposer of affairs).
[033:004] All‚h has not made for any man two hearts inside his body. Neither has He made your wives whom you declare to be like your mothers' backs, your real mothers [Az-Zih‚r is the saying of a husband to his wife, "You are to me like the back of my mother," i.e., you are unlawful for me to approach] nor has He made your adopted sons your real sons. That is but your saying with your mouths. But All‚h says the truth, and He guides to the (Right) Way.
[033:005] Call them (adopted sons) by (the names of) their fathers, that is more just with All‚h. But if you know not their father's (names, call them) your brothers in Faith and Maw‚lÓkum (your freed slaves). And there is no sin on you concerning that in which you made a mistake, except in regard to what your hearts deliberately intend. And All‚h is Ever Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.
[033:006] The Prophet is closer to the believers than their own selves, and his wives are their (believers') mothers (as regards respect and marriage). And blood relations among each other have closer personal ties in the Decree of All‚h (regarding inheritance) than (the brotherhood of) the believers and the Muh‚jirŻn (emigrants from Makkah), except that you do kindness to those brothers (when the Prophet joined them in brotherhood ties). This has been written in the (All‚h's Book of Divine) Decrees Ė (Al-Lauh Al-MahfŻz)."

(V.33:6) Narrated 'Abdull‚h bin Hish‚m [radhi-yAll‚hu 'anhu]: We were with the Prophet [sal-All‚hu 'alayhi wa sallam] and he was holding the hand of 'Umar bin Al-Khatt‚b. 'Umar said to him, "O All‚h's Messenger! You are dearer to me than everything except my own self." The Prophet [sal-All‚hu 'alayhi wa sallam] said, "No, by Him in Whose Hand my soul is, (you will not have complete Faith) till I am dearer to you than your own self." Then 'Umar said to him, "Now, by All‚h, you are dearer to me than my own self." The Prophet [sal-All‚hu 'alayhi wa sallam] said, "Now, O 'Umar (now you are a believer)."
