070 - Soorah al-Ma'aarij - (The Ways of Ascent) - [Makkee]
[070:011] Though they shall be made to see one another (i.e. on the Day of Resurrection, there will be none but see his father, children and relatives, but he will neither speak to them nor will ask them for any help). The Mujrim, (criminal, sinner, disbeliever) would desire to ransom himself from the punishment of that Day by his children.
[070:012] And his wife and his brother,
[070:013] And his kindred who sheltered him,
[070:014] And all that are in the earth, so that it might save him.
[070:015] By no means! Verily, it will be the fire of Hell,
[070:016] Taking away (burning completely) the head skin!
[070:017] Calling (all) such as turn their backs and turn away their faces (from Faith) [picking and swallowing them up from that great gathering of mankind on the Day of Resurrection just as a bird picks up a food grain from the earth with its beak and swallows it up], (Tafsir Al-QurtubÓ)
[070:018] And collect (wealth) and hide it (from spending it in the Cause of All‚h).
[070:019] Verily, man was created very impatient;
[070:020] Irritable (discontented) when evil touches him;
[070:021] And niggardly when good touches him.
[070:022] Except those who are devoted to Sal‚t (prayers).
[070:023] Those who remain constant in their Sal‚t (prayers);
[070:024] And those in whose wealth there is a recognised right
[070:025] For the beggar who asks, and for the unlucky who has lost his property and wealth (and his means of living has been straitened).
[070:026] And those who believe in the Day of Recompense.
[070:027] And those who fear the torment of their Lord.
[070:028] Verily, the torment of their Lord is that before which none can feel secure.
[070:029] And those who guard their chastity (i.e. private parts from illegal sexual acts).
[070:030] Except from their wives or (the women slaves) whom their right hands possess Ė for (then) they are not blameworthy.
[070:031] But whosoever seeks beyond that, then it is those who are trespassers.
[070:032] And those who keep their trusts and covenants.
[070:033] And those who stand firm in their testimonies.
[070:034] And those who guard their Sal‚t (prayers) well.
[070:035] Such shall dwell in the Gardens (i.e. Paradise), honoured.
[070:036] So, what is the matter with those who disbelieve that they hasten to listen from you [(O Muhammad [sal-All‚hu 'alayhi wa sallam]) in order to deny you and to mock at you, and at All‚h's Book (this Qur'‚n)].
[070:037] (Sitting) in groups on the right and on the left (of you, O Muhammad [sal-All‚hu 'alayhi wa sallam])?
[070:038] Does every man of them hope to enter the Paradise of Delight?
[070:039] No, that is not like that! Verily, We have created them out of that which they know!
(V.70:14) See the footnote (B) of (V.51:60).
(V.70:17) Calling: (i.e. the Hell will call out:) "O K‚fir [O disbeliever in All‚h, His angels, His Book, His Messengers, Day of Resurrection and in Al-Qadar (Divine Preordainments)], O Mushrik (O polytheist, disbeliever in the Oneness of All‚h)."
(V.70:22) See the footnote of (V.9:91).
(V.70:29) Narrated Sahl bin Sa'd [Subh‚nahu wa Ta'‚la]: All‚h's Messenger [sal-All‚hu 'alayhi wa sallam] said, "Whoever can guarantee (the chastity of) what is between his two jaw-bones and what is between his two legs (i.e. his mouth, tongue and his private parts),* I guarantee Paradise for him." [Sahih Al-Bukhari, 8/6474 (O.P.481)]
* i.e., whoever protects his tongue from illegal talk like telling lies, or backbiting, etc., and his mouth from eating and drinking of forbidden things, etc., and his private parts from illegal sexual acts.
(V.70:31) Narrated Anas [radhi-yAll‚hu 'anhu]: I will narrate to you a Hadith I heard from All‚h's Messenger [sal-All‚hu 'alayhi wa sallam] and none other than I will tell of it. I heard All‚h's Messenger [sal-All‚hu 'alayhi wa sallam] saying, "From among the portents of the Hour are the following: Religious knowledge will be taken away; General ignorance (in religious matters) will increase; Illegal sexual intercourse will prevail; Drinking of alcoholic drinks will be very common; Men will decrease in number, and women will increase in number, so much so that fifty women will be looked after by one man."
[Sahih Al-Bukhari, 7/5231 (O.P.158)]
