In the Name of All?h, the Ever Merciful, the Bestower of Mercy
On the authority of ???ishah (ra?i All?hu ?anh?): Hind bint ?Utbah said: "O Messenger of All?h! Verily, Ab? Sufy?n is a stingy man who does not provide sufficient provisions for me and my child, except when I take from him without his knowledge.’" He (?alla? All?hu ?alayhi wa-sallam) replied: "Take [from his property] that which is sufficient for you and your child" [Bukh?r? and Muslim]. Al-??fidh ibn ?ajr mentions: “This narration is proof that it is permissible to mention a person with qualities that he is not fond of in certain situations, such as attaining a fatwa? or filing a complaint and the likes of this. This is one of the times where backbiting is permissible” [Fat? al-B?r?: 9/509]. Shaykh Rab?? ibn H?d? al-Madkhal?: “The Messenger of All?h (?alla? All?hu ?alayhi wa-sallam) did not rebuke ?ind bint ?Utbah for mentioning Ab? Sufy?n’s deficiency. Likewise, he (?alla? All?hu ?alayhi wa-sallam) did not compel her to mention his good, although Ab? Sufy?n possessed much good.” Source: Manhaj Ahl al-Sunnah wa al-Jam??ah li Shaykh Rab?? al-Madkhal? pg. 30-31. Translated by: Mun?b al-?um?l? Continue reading on Troid.ca ... |
