Hadeeth #40
عَنْ ابْنِ عُمَرَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا قَال:َ أَخَذَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِمَنْكِبَيَّ فَقَالَ
On the authority of Ibn `Umar- Radiyallaahu `anhumaa –who said: “The Messenger of Allaah– Sallallaahu `alayhi wasallam – took me by my shoulder and said:
كُنْ فِي الدُّنْيَا كَأَنَّكَ غَرِيبٌ، أَوْ عَابِرُ سَبِيلٍ
‘Be in this life as if you were a stranger or passer-by’.
وَكَانَ ابْنُ عُمَرَ رَضِي اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا يَقُولُ: إِذَا أَمْسَيْتَ فَلاَ تَنْتَظِرِ الصَبَّاحَ، وَإِذَا أَصْبَحْتَ فَلاَ تَنْتَظِرِ الْمَسَاءَ
Ibn `Umar used to say: “In the evening, do not expect to live to the morning, And in the morning, do not expect to live to the evening.
وَخُذْ مِنْ صِحَّتِكَ لِمَرَضِكَ، وَمِنْ حَيَاتِكَ لِمَوْتِكَ
Take from your health for your illness, and from your life for your death".
رَوَاهُ الْبُخَارِيُّ
