Re: 3 Talks on Aqeedah and Manhaj of the Salaf (by Abu Khadeejah)
Some benefits from the book "The Aqeedah of Imaam al-Bukhari
", referred to in these lectures:
- SPEECH AND ACTION
That the religion consists of (both) speech and action, and this is due to the saying of Allaah:
[098:005] "And they were commanded not, but that they should worship All‚h, and worship none but Him Alone (abstaining from ascribing partners to Him), and perform As-Sal‚t (the prayers) and give Zak‚t (obligatory charity), and that is the right religion."
- THE QUR'AAN
And that the Qur'aan is the Speech of Allaah, not being created, due to His saying:
[007:054] Indeed, your Lord is All‚h, Who created the heavens and the earth in Six Days, and then He rose over (Istaw‚) the Throne (really in a manner that suits His Majesty). He brings the night as a cover over the day, seeking it rapidly, and (He created) the sun, the moon, the stars subjected to His Command..."
And Imaam al-Bukhari said, Ibn Uyainah said, "So Allaah made distinct the creation (khalq) from the command ('amr) (in the remainder of the aayah):
"...Surely, His is the Creation (khalq) and the Command ('Amr). Blessed be Allaah, the Lord of the 'Aalameen (mandkind, jinns and all that exists)."
- THE PRE-DECREE
And that good and evil is by the pre-ordainment (qadar) of Allaah, due to His saying:
[113:1-2] "Say, 'I seek refuge with (Allaah) the Lord of the daybreak. From the evil of what He has created.", and
[37:96] "While Allaah created you and whatever you make!".
And due to His saying: [54:49] "Verily We have created all things with Qadr (Divine pre-ordainments of all things before their creation, as written in the Book of Decrees, al Lawh al-Mahfooz)."
And none of them used to declare anyone from among the people of the qiblah a disbeliever on account of committing a sin, due to His saying:
[004:048] "Verily, All‚h forgives not that partners should be set up with Him (in worship), but He forgives except that (anything else) to whom He wills; and whoever sets up partners with All‚h in worship, he has indeed invented a tremendous sin."
- THE COMPANIONS & THEIR HONOUR
And I never saw amongst them anyone who would take something from (the honour of) the Companions of Muhammad . 'Aa'ishah, may Allaah be pleased with her, said, 'They were commanded to seek forgiveness for them due to His saying:
[059:010] "And those who came after them say: "Our Lord! Forgive us and our brethren who have preceded us in Faith, and put not in our hearts any hatred against those who have believed. Our Lord! You are indeed full of kindness, Most Merciful."
- INNOVATIONS (BID'AH)
And they used to avoid innovations: whatever the Messenger and his Companions were not upon due to His saying:
[003:103] "And hold fast, all of you together, to the Rope of All‚h (i.e. this Qur'‚n), and be not divided among yourselves,...",
and due to His saying: [024:054] "..If you obey him, you shall be on the right guidance."
- FOLLOWING THE MESSENGER
And they used to urge (people) to (follow) what the Messenger and his Companions were upon due to His saying:
[006:153] "And verily, this (i.e. All‚h's Commandments mentioned in the above two Verses 151 and 152) is my straight path, so follow it, and follow not (other) paths, for they will separate you away from His path. This He has ordained for you that you may become Al-MuttaqŻn (the pious)."
- DEALING WITH THE RULERS
And that we do not contend with or attempt to take away the command from those assigned with it (ie, the rulers) due to the saying of the Messenger , "There are three things towards which the heart of a Muslim never shows hatred or rancor: making one's action sincerely for the sake of Allaah, giving obedience to the rulers (wulaatul-amr) and sticking to their group (jamaa'ah). For verily, their supplication encompasses those who are behind them (ie, those whom they rule over)." Then this is confirmed in His saying:
[004:059] "O you who believe! Obey All‚h and obey the Messenger (Muhammad [sal-All‚hu 'alayhi wa sallam]), and those of you (Muslims) who are in authority.
- RAISING THE SWORD AGAINST THE UMMAH
And that the sword is not to be raised against (any of) the Ummah of Muhammad .
And al-Fudayl said, "If I had one supplication that would be answered, I would not make it except for the leader (Imaam) because when the leader becomes righteous, the towns and the servants become safe and secure."
Ibn al-Mubaarak said (in reference to the above saying of al-Fudayl): "O teacher of goodness, who would show boldness towards this besides you?".
